How it Came to Be...

In November of 2007, Paul Woolson of Woolson Soundcraft kicked off a Road Trip for his prototype Double-Top guitar. As the participants started posting their reviews, recordings and photographs of the guitar to the various online guitar forums, I thought that it would be a good idea to have a single location where everyone could access that information.

Initially, it was just my intention to host only the recordings, but then I thought, "Well, why not also put up some excerpts from the reviews... and I may as well host the photos, too!" And so, this site was born!

The site was originally setup for just the Woolson Soundcraft Road Trip. It was my hope, however, that after seeing the site, other luthiers might be inspired to do a Road Trip of their own (and maybe include me in their list ::cough cough::). I knew that I'd have to redesign the site to accomodate multiple Road Trips but figured it'd be a while before I needed to start worrying about that. Tim McKnight changed that!

In January of 2008, Tim McKnight of McKnight Guitars contacted me to let me know that he was planning on doing a Road Trip for his special "Diamond" guitar and wanted to know if I'd be interested in participating. Do mice like cheese!? Of course, I was interested! But this also meant that I'd have to do my redesign of the website - something that I wasn't particularly looking forward to!

The site is now setup to accomidate more than one Road Trip guitar and it's my hope that, in addtion to the currently listed Road Trips, we'll see some others real soon!

So, browse around the site, read the review excerpts, check out the photos, and listen to some fine acoustic guitar recordings. If you think of anything that you'd like to see on this site, just let me know!
